Using Firefox as an alternate browser
Internet Explorer has been the leading browser since the late 90's when it won the long standing browser war against Netscape. However, IE has been plagued by security issues. Anyone who has had their browser high-jacked knows how frustrating this can be. Web pages you never clicked on open up on your computer screen. This not only causes frustration, but can also cause productivity problems and allow your computer to be infected with unwanted spyware. IE is vulnerable to spyware that infects your computer through web pages and web sites that the browser is connecting to.
In 2004, the Firefox browser entered the market and immediately established itself as a strong competitor of Microsoft's Internet Explorer. Firefox is far less vulnerable to security issues from web pages than Microsoft's IE. Further, Firefox is open source. That means it is free to download and a growing number of users all over the world are doing this.
Many users are convinced that Firefox is a superior browser to IE. While leaving IE installed on their computer, Firefox is now their primary browser.
