Macromedia Flash (Now Adobe) is a tremendous technology for web design and very popular. However, care and thought should be taken to know when and when not to use Flash.

The advantages of using Flash are many. Flash can give a site the extra multimedia edge, rather than just using static HTML web pages. It can add interactivity, motion, color and much more. So why not use it as much as possible? Because there are down sides.

The disadvantages of using Flash: Web pages using Flash are much "heavier" then using straight HTML. That is because Flash Files can be very large, causing slower downloading times. Web pages that download as quick as possible is a key requirement for effective web page design.

Flash is great to use and can give a website that edge it needs when deployed properly.
